The total length per strap is actually just over 59cm, thereof are 2 x 5cm the rounded end attachment sections (see gallery picture), so the actual 1.4cm wide strap in between is 49cm long. The end sections have pre-stamped holes so they can be attached with hand sewing. A thicker thread is recommended.
The handle has a slight sheen to it, looks quite good for a faux leather, nice stitching either side and black edges. It is a great product for the price, very versatile from using for fabric bags to crochet or knitted bags or to hold a draped shawl or cloak over the shoulder.
