Polycotton Bias binding 50mm – Black, colour 14, per metre

£1.35

Polycotton Bias Binding, perfect for finishing your bunting, or to edge garments.

In this 50mm width especially popular for edging / binding quilts. The material of this binding is nice and strong, so you will not see the fabric through the binding.

To order more than one metre, simply select the quantity of metres as the ‘Quantity’. Your bias binding will be cut as one continuous length to the number of metres you require.

All our bias binding is single fold bias tape, where the two long raw edges are folded into the centre of the tape. So that the final fabric strip width is half the original width. So for example, if your raw fabric strip is 4in then it will be become this 2inch = 5cm = 50mm single fold bias tape.

Bias Binding is cut on the bias of the fabric (45 degrees) and comes with the edges ready folded. Being cut across the grain means it will bend around curved shapes more easily than if it was cut on the straight grain of the fabric, so it is great for binding armholes, edging curves on collars, etc.

Though we ensure our photography is as accurate as possible, we would like to state it is for representation purposes only.

Premium Polycotton bias by Stephanoise France.

65% Polyester, 35% Cotton – tightly woven so the fabric bound by this bias binding cannot be seen through.

This Bias Binding in all available widths is the perfect choice as it is nicely starched, well pressed and the two sides meet in the middle, which is always a sign of premium quality. This bias tape is SINGLE FOLDED, meaning both sides are folded towards the middle ONCE.

(As the sides meet in the middle, you can easily fold it over again manually to make double fold bias tape)

You will then notice that this bias tape has one side that’s slightly wider than the other to help with neat and secure application. The wider side automatically folds over the narrower side, ensuring that your stitching line catches both layers of the tape on the back of your project. This creates a clean finish with no raw edges visible from the front, should you decide to “flange” the bias onto the fabric instead of sewing it on the “classic way” = opened up.
