In this full day workshop we make a large stocking with several special features!

Included in the class fee is a 5 Fat Quarter Bundles that you can put together yourself out of a great choice of options available on the day, 100% Cotton. Also all the other bits and bobs plus pattern and thread is included. You can choose your piping and lining colours out of a selection of options (Stocking Completion Kits) so you can pick what will fit best to your chosen fat quarters.
You are very welcome to bring your own sewing machine, or use a sewing school simple non computerized Janome 219-S Sewing Machine that we have here at the sewing school.
Please bring also a sewing kit with fabric scissors, snips, pins, unpicker, a tape measure, a stiletto if you have one and anything else that you like to have around you when sewing.
This class is absolutely suitable for an eager post beginner, it should not be the very first project you ever sew on a machine but if you have completed a Beginners Sewing Machine Class previously or if you have made easy pouches and cushions previously, you will be just fine. As it is a daytime class, it is suitable for adults as well as teenagers from 16 years of age.
We have filmed the full tutorial for this diamond patchwork stocking for our youtube channel @fabricandfineryhelensburgh, so you could have a wee glimpse to see if this project takes your fancy to spend a day with or if you rather bought the stocking completion kit and a fat quarter bundle on our website and use the videos to guide you as you only have short spells of sewing time available to you.
A full day workshop always gives you not just the opportunity to sew but also to be surrounded by like minded people for the day, to hear new stories, have a wee chat and a cuppa and a change of scenery. On a Sunday you have free off street parking all along East Princes Street, the shop is right across Helensburgh Train Station. For your lunch break you can bring a sandwich or you can nip out to Tesco/Greggs/Subway to grab something nice. The kettle will be on all day, but please note we do not have a microwave.
Please let us know if you have to be careful with some foods so we supply some sweet snacks for you to go with your cuppas that are suitable for your dietary requirements.
