44inch width / 112cm width fabrics
are sold in 18inch by 22inch fat quarters (FQs) (46cm x 56cm) for all the quilters amongst us, but also in 25cm increments full width as the shortest measurement you can buy our fabrics in.
4 x 25cm = 1m of fabric as a continuous piece. 2 x FQ = 2 individual FQs.
54inch and 60inch width / 137cm and 150cm width fabrics
are sold in larger fat quarters (FQs) (50cm by 68cm / 75cm) and in increments of 25cm.
4 x 25cm = 1m of fabric as a continuous piece. 2 x FQ = 2 individual FQs.
The reason for these short 25cm increments in meterage are NOT to let our prices appear artificially low but to allow both quilters and non quilting sewists to purchase small pieces of fabric and to be able to only buy what you need and not to have to round up to the next half metre, so you can buy 1.25m or 2.75m etc. of a fabric if this is what your pattern is asking for.
Remember to buy a little more if your chosen fabric contains cotton and you are planning to prewash it before use, so any shrinkage can be accounted for.
