Come, sit and sew! The shop is all yours, plenty of space for sewing, cutting, pressing and the occasional stroking of fabric…. 🙂
Meet Like-minded people, learn something new, sew other sewers’ enticing projects and have a wee chat, too.
This is our relaxed Project Sewing Club every other Thursday EVENING, this club follows a fortnightly pattern all year round.
- All levels of sewists welcome, from Advanced Beginners to well experienced.
- Be in good company and work on whichever project you like, should you be stuck for ideas, we have kits for many projects.
- Try your hand on a zipped padded pouch, a handled little make up bag, a lunch bag, an apron with facing, a denim messenger back made out of an old pair of jeans and an old shirt, a cross body bag, a zipped and piped bench seat, a peg bag, whatever project you would like to sew.
- Anything you have seen on instagram etc, show us the picture and we will find a pattern for you. Started a project but got stuck? Bring that, too.
- Have a few favourite dresses but they do not fit properly? We can show you dress and other garment alterations too, we do not make new garments in this club but gladly show you how to optimise the fit on existing ones.
- Would you like to try free motion doodling like Poppy Treffry? Bring your machine and we set it up for it and you do your first doodles.
- You may of course also work on your own projects and ask any questions you may have, enjoying the company of fellow sewers
- You are invited to use the tools of the workshop from Olfa Mats to Olfa & Fiskars Cutters, Sew Easy Rulers, Button press, Overlockers etc.
- You are meant to bring your own fabrics, sewing kits, sewing machines, however if you wished to use a sewing school machine please let us know in advance so we can set up a non-fancy manual sewing machine for you.
- You are welcome to enjoy a 10% discount on shop purchases on the day of the session, that means you could even pop in earlier in the day to sort your requirements before you come to class at night. (The shop is open from 1pm on Thursdays)
- This is meant to be a fortnightly meet up of like minded crafty people who like to sew all together and pinch each others tutorials and ideas to try projects they might otherwise not have tackled/considered, it is a great way to broaden your experience in sewing or to set “me-time” aside to sew away from a busy home.
