The FORTNIGHTLY INTERMEDIATE SEWING CLASS we previously ran, has now mutated into the INTERMEDIATE SEWING CLUB FORTNIGHTLY with a Thursday evening version (this one here), a Friday version (Sip & Sew Intermediate) and also a morning version if more convenient (Sew Pretty Things Thursday mornings fortnightly).
It was felt during the intermediate sewing class that the pressure for some students was too high to not understand the full project during the class time but also to have to find time in between the sessions at home to complete the projects, so we made the class into a Club and now everyone can go at their own speed.
So in this INTERMEDIATE SEWING CLUB you can tackle all the projects of the Intermediate Sewing Class but also your own and anything else you have seen on social media, in magazines etc, that you would like to tackle. Chances are that someone else in the group fancies the same thing, and you start exchanging ideas and solutions to obstacles….
Come along and enjoy 2.5hours of sewing on your latest project with like minded people, have a chat and a cuppa, too!
This club takes place every other Thursday EVENING and follows a fortnightly pattern all year round.
- All levels of sewists welcome, from Advanced Beginners to well experienced. You need to be able to thread your machine, and wind a bobbin.
- Be in good company and work on whichever project you like, should you be stuck for ideas, we have kits for many projects, ie stockings, table runners, zipped pouches, Zipped, piped or bobble trimmed cushion covers, all shop stock purchases on the day of the session entitle you to 10% off! We are very happy to show you anything that you have not tackled before.
- We can also show you how to make zipped cushions with piping, boxed seats, tote bags, bucket bags etc.
- We can also discuss alterations and repairs to your existing clothing (not enough room to make new garments in this club though) so if you wanted to bring in a couple of dresses that never fitted you right and you would like understand why, please do!
- You may of course also work on your own projects and ask any questions you may have
- You are invited to use the tools of the workshop from Olfa Mats to Olfa & Fiskars Cutters, Sew Easy Rulers, Button press, Overlockers etc.
- You are meant to bring your own fabrics, sewing kits, sewing machines, however if you wished to use a sewing school machine please let us know in advance so we can set up one of our sewing school non-fancy manual sewing machine for you. You are also very welcome to use the school overlocker.
- This is meant to be a fortnightly meet up of like minded crafty people who like to sew all together and pinch each others tutorials to try projects they might otherwise not have tackled/considered, it is a great way to broaden your experience in sewing or to set “me-time” aside to sew away from a busy home.
Book ahead, come along, join in! See you soon, Irina & team
